Cross Training Center

The mission of the Cross Training Center is to break the cycle of poverty by providing life skills, education and vocational training to the impoverished and empower them to succeed through Biblical principles and disciplines. At the core of our program is the ability for our students to receive education, vocational training, and job experience. CTC students will progress through a course of study from an accredited college or university to attain their academic degree. Vocational training will be provided through our first active business, Cross Electronic Recycling. We will collect out -of -service computers and other electronics from the community and refurbish and recycle them. Most of the electronics will be refurbished and resold to low income families and non profits in our community. Electronics that are not worthy of being refurbished will be dismantled and recycled.

IWCC Adult Education and Literacy (HiSET, ESL, Literacy)

Orientation required prior to attending classes.  $25.00 registration fee due at orientation- expires June 30.  Orientation provides a general program overview.  A student ID and parking sticker is obtained.  Assessments are administered to determine reading, math, and/or listening levels upon entry.  Registration and other paperwork is completed at this time as well.  The program runs 7-week sessions so a student can wait for the start of the next session or attend one of the open-entry classes, independent work classes until the next session begins.  This is of interest to students who want to get a bit of a head start or review prior to the start of a session.  Online programming is another option as is popular for students attending the open entry option.  Special HiSET test accommodations are available for students with diagnosed disabilities.  Cost for testing: $50.00 for complete 5-test battery (plus 2 free retests per subject) or $10.00 per test.  These are computer-based tests. For more details on HiSET in Iowa, go to: http://hiset.ets.org Morning, afternoon and evening classes are available.
